Fat loss and 3D Lipo
3D Ultimate Lipo for fat loss
Sending shockwaves through the aesthetic industry and bodies.
3-D Lipo-therapy and fat busting ….All you need to know on how this non-invasive approach to Lipo can work for you.
Non-invasive 3-D lipo therapy is not only sending shockwaves through bodies alone but across the aesthetic industry platform. Being one of the most trending and sought after treatments by celebs and patients in 2024, let’s debunk some of the myths around this treatment and have look into exactly what it involves and how it could potentially work for you to get you beach-body ready in 2025!
So what many people don’t know is that non-surgical 3-D lipo-therapy is a multi-modal approach comprising up to four different techniques to tackle stubborn pockets of fat in target areas across the body.
Many people assume quite like the conventional method of surgical liposuction that this is a uniform method, but in fact it’s not.
Targeted bespoke protocols are formulated for each individual patient and this is not the same for everybody.
Four of the main techniques employed include include radio-frequency, cavitation, and cryo-lipolysis and shockwave therapy.
Let’s have a look at each of these in turn and discuss the pros and cons and how they work on different body areas.
Radio-frequency
Radio-frequency is also known as fat melting. This uses heat energy up to 40°c which is the temperature at which fat cells start to melt and metabolise. The machine needles penetrate the skin surface at depths of 3 to 4 mm in combination with a radio-frequency heat energy. The result of this is skin tightening and up -regulation in the production of collagen and fibroblast activity. Therefore, any area of the body in which you feel that there is saggy skin, creasing skin and wrinkled or crepey looking skin will become tighter and firmer and smooth. The heat applied up-regulates fibroblast activity which in turn stimulates the production of collagen and elastin. There is also an up-regulation of blood supply to the area as well.

Cavitation
The second method is cavitation. Cavitation uses an ultrasonic vibration which is applied to the specific areas of the body. The ultrasonic vibration creates vibrations through the dermal fat cells and this effectively pushes the fat out of the target areas and into the blood system from which they are then metabolised out of the body. Fat cells within the cell membranes are unable to withstand the vibrational impact of the cavitation and they therefore breakdown quickly and are released and metabolised from the body through the lymphatic system. The collagen fibres immediately contract aswell within the skin structure and after contraction they re-build themselves and proliferate at a greater number increasing the cell density of collagen per unit area of skin and so tightening the area and smoothing the skin aswell.
This specific method is used to target pockets and can produce inch loss aswell.
Cryolipolysis
The third technique is known as cryo- lipolysis. This is effectively fat freezing. Fat cells are exposed to temperatures as low as 0 to 10 degrees. The fat cells undergo cell death otherwise known as apoptosis and they crystallise and breakdown. The area of fat is placed in between two metal plates and a vacuum suction is created to reach the low-temperature that is applied for the fat cells to crystallise. The area of fat gradually breaks down over several weeks following the treatment and is excreted through the bodies metabolic and lymphatic system.
Shockwave
The fourth method is known as shockwave therapy. Shockwave uses acoustic waves in the body which create vibrations and stimulating fat breakdown, collagen synthesis and lymphatic drainage.
Is there any downtime?
Unlike conventional surgical liposuction there is no downtime associated with non-invasive 3-D ultimate Lipo.
Is 3-D Lipo invasive?
3-D Lipo is a non-invasive liposuction method which uses a number of different strategies for body contouring, inch loss and body contouring including radio-frequency, cavitation, cryo-lipolysis.
Which patient groups cannot have 3-D Lipo?
Anybody who is pregnant or has had a recent pregnancy as breastfeeding is not suitable for this treatment.
Anybody with a heart condition or thrombophlebitis, on anticoagulant medication, and blood thinning medication or has a history of cancer cannot have the treatment.
If you are on steroid medication, have an existing auto-immune condition, diabetes, epilepsy or metal prosthesis or implants then you cannot have this.
What are the after-care instructions post treatment?
Post treatment is important that you do not have a hot shower or saunas immediately afterwards.
It is recommended that there is no alcohol consumption on the day of the treatment and 72 hours after treatment.
It is always advised to drink lots of water and hydrate yourself with 2 to 3 litres of water daily.
Swelling discomfort in the area treated can occurs and to obtain relief from this it is recommended that cold packs are applied.
